6 Need-To-Know Influencers Of Website Page Rank
The holy grail for the internet marketer is a high website page rank. Once you learn some of the basics, you can really watch your blog move dramatically in the search engines. There are many factors that contribute to this and nobody really knows exactly how Google, Yahoo and Bing factor everything in, but here are 6 factors that can help you improve your website page rank.
Website Page Rank Accessibility Quality Content Basic On-Page Optimization User Friendly Site Features Marketing Efforts Advanced StrategiesAccessibility The search engines all deploy search engines spiders that constantly crawl the internet analyzing content, looking for links and many other factors as well. The algorithms they use are adjusted periodically to help improve the users experience. Essentially we, as webmasters, attempt to guess what factors will favorably influence the search engine gods. In reality we all attempt to game the system in someway or another. Down and dirty techniques to game the system are called "black hat" strategies and above board and honest methods are called "white hat" strategies. This is a very basic definition. In reality many of the techniques that are standard and accepted by us are more "gray hat" in the fact that, in a perfect world Google really doesn't want anybody to attempt to manipulate the system. So in fact if we're using automation tools to help us gain an advantage, then we are not operating in a "white hat" world.
Accessibility, as I define it is creating a website and developing links throughout the internet that these spiders will crawl and get indexed. I use a few plugins to help with that task. One is Google XML Sitemaps and another is called Indexing Tool, but there are many other plugins available. The goal is to help the Googlebot, Yahoo Slurp and MSNbot spiders find both on-site pages and posts and off-site backlinks pointing to your blog. The bottom line is that if these are not all indexed, or located and recorded, then you won't get credit for them.
Content
You've heard it said before that "content is king" and creating articles and video's that motivate people is key. This is something that I've been working on as copywriting skills are really important. Creating a video or writing a post that others want to share is a large component to the page ranking equation. These is something that's called the "link conversion rate" and this is a ratio of visitors who view your post and then link it (i.e. they Like, Share, Tweet, Plus or grab your RSS feed). That's why you see everyone with Facebook, Twitter, Google + and other buttons on their sites. Even major corporations and hospitals know the value of creating "social proof" as it is a major component on how to improve your website page rank.
Basic On-Page Optimization
There are lots of little little things that you can do to make your site search engine friendly and improve your website page rank, but the biggest factor is selecting and using your keyword effectively. Your selected keyword must appear in the title, and early in the body of the post. Keyword density means using that keyword enough, but not too many times in the article. Many people purchase a new keyword targeted domain name for every critical piece of content so that the domain, the title and the keyword density are all optimized to help boost page rank.
User Friendly Site Features
The search engines also look at things called bounce rates which is the amount of time visitors spend on your site. The more time people spend and the deeper they explore on your site the better. In order to boost your website page rank you must create a site that is appealing with compelling content as this influences linking, referencing and browse rates.
Marketing Efforts
While "content is king" you can create the most user friendly site with the best content, but if you get no traffic then it won't do you any good. The sad truth is that you can create a higher page rank with a strong marketing effort even though your content is marginal. What I mean is that strong marketing plus weak content will trump weak marketing plus strong content every time. The goal is strong marketing plus strong content. Marketing efforts include creating backlinks through SEO or paying for traffic through advertising.
Advanced Strategies
Don't get too hung up on on-all the little on-page optimization tricks just as long as you get a few things right such as keyword selection and placing it in you post title. The value of advanced strategies is pretty low in the overall scheme of things.
It all boils down to building an attractive, engaging site with compelling content and then creating an environment where the search engines can find everything in order to get it indexed both on-site and off-site. As the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built in a day" and so just take your time and put things in place one piece at a time. Improved website page rank will come with time and patience. Too many people give up too soon when they don't see immediate results. If you can develop a habit of creating content daily and backlinking what you create, then you'll see results.
