How to Make The Most Effective Video on Your Squeeze Page

Using a squeeze page as a landing page is a strategy used by many internet marketers and online businesses. On a squeeze page, the visitor is invited to sign in to access further information or products. In essence, in exchange for his details the visitor gains access to another page or website with information or products he wants, and in the process becomes a ‘lead’.

There is an art to converting visitors to leads, and using a video on your squeeze page has statistically shown to increase conversation rates. The page design and written content will also influence your visitor’s response, but a video offers 2 additional benefits: 1. It attract and maintain the attention of your visitor (makes your website ’sticky’) and 2. It builds trust, shows your character and that you are a genuine person.

Here is what I recommend on how to structure your squeeze page video to ensure that you connect with your visitors and generate leads:

1. Confirm with your visitor that he is at the right place by addressing their need or situation.
In order to do this, you must identify who is visiting your site and who you wish to target (your niche market). Tell your visitor that you know something about them, what they are looking for or how they are feeling. Use tact though, avoid blunt assumptions (after all you do not ‘know’ them). Use ‘maybe’ and ‘probably’ or a question format to encourage your visitors to identify for themselves how they relate to you and what you have to offer. For example: “Are you tired of…?”, “Do you need…”, “Do you wish you could…?”,”You are probably looking for…”.

2. Introduce your personal story.
Now you visitor is ready to hear about how you fit in and truly connect with your story. Keep it short and concise; use one or two sentences to talk about your situation, your struggles or feelings prior to finding a solution.

3. Introduce your solution.
Now that your visitor trusts you and can relate to your story, you can say that you found a solution and provide some general information about your opportunity or product. Don’t say too much; you want your visitor to be intrigued and keen to sign in to find out more.

4. Conclude your personal story.
What is your situation now? How did the solution help you achieve your goals? How did the product or opportunity change the way you live, work or play? What are the benefits (e.g. “I received a great discount”, “This product helped me double my sales”, “I make a great income”, “I saved money”, etc)? Remember to discuss the benefits that you know will resonate with your niche market.

5. Call to action (entering their details) and what’s in it for them.
Tell your visitor what you want him to do (i.e. sign in), and what he will receive if he does. Make sure you offer something valuable to your visitor; a free report, a phone call, more information and resources, a special discount or offer, etc. Use words that give some urgency, such as ‘now’, ‘right away, ‘today’ or ‘instantly’.

Finally, I have 8 practical tips on making the perfect video:

1. Use quality audio and video resolution, and reduce background noise.
2. Choose a setting that is consistent with what you are selling (e.g. in your home office if you have a home business, at a marina for boat services, at the beach to demonstrate your lifestyle, or just on a plain background if you want to focus on your message, etc.). Have a tidy and non-distracting background.
3. Smile! Be pleasant, welcoming and animated. Dress to convey the right image, be yourself, and make a little effort!
4. Keep it short and sweet. 1-3 minutes is ideal.
5. Edit your video to have smooth transitions between screens if applicable. Use fade in and out or other transition effects for a professional feel, but don’t overwhelm or distract the viewer with too many special effects.
6. Include a screen at the end with your contact details or website address. You can write your call to action here as well, and use a motivating soundtrack while your are displaying written text.
7. Have you video on auto-start. Your message will start instantly and your visitor will be drawn to watch your video.
8. Have your opt-in box near your video, so that it is handy after you have given your call to action.
